Gary rewarded for realism and a positive outlook

Gary Spence's team spirit and positive attitude radiates to those around him, and that’s why he has been named one of this year’s People Making a Difference.

Gary Spence

For the past ten years, Gary has been an integral part of the team that continues to make GRAHAM the nation's fastest growing producer of architectural flush wood doors. As the ASSA ABLOY Door Group grows, Gary has consistently grown with it, keeping up with the technology and adapting to change. He has served as a Maintenance Electrician, Maintenance Lead, and currently as the Maintenance Team Leader.

Gary’s responsibilities include managing the maintenance team and provide support for all production processes and facilities. His overarching goal has always been to make everyone else’s jobs run smoothly, and he has done just that. A job well done is a point of pride for Gary. His people skills, analytical bent and terrific ability to multi-task have insured the confidence that he inspires among the entire GRAHAM team.

Gary enjoys the challenges and rewards that being part of a growing industry affords, as well as the camaraderie he finds at GRAHAM. “When people smile and say ‘hi’, and when I leave at the end of the day knowing I did my best is a great return.” Gary hopes to continue in this vein and become even more efficient in his current role.

Gary’s supervisor, Joe Pratt, profit center manager, admires Gary’s realism. “Gary never over-promises and never under-delivers. Gary makes decisions based on facts and sound reasoning.”

Gary’s home life is based firmly in his family values. Church, fishing, and traveling with his family allow him to unwind and enjoy his family and friends, and he makes a big difference to all those around him, on and off the job.
